As part of our work to ensure our University data centres are resilient, we are carrying out some essential maintenance on Saturday , 17 February , 9 am-3pm. Every effort has been made to test that the change goes without incident, but there is always a possibility of service disruption. Essential wireless equipment upgrades : 14th - 16th February

Description

We are undertaking essential wireless equipment upgrades in various locations. There may be a brief interruption to network connectivity in its vicinity for devices connected to Wi-Fi. We anticipate disruption of around 15 minutes but if you are having wireless connection issues after 30 minutes simply switch your Wi-Fi off and back on again to reconnect to the campus Wi-Fi network. The network should recover and reconverge without manual intervention, but IT staff will be on standby during the work to monitor key services and act if required. Updates will be provided on the Interim Wi-Fi Project page. In each building, the essential work is scheduled as follows: Augustines Courtyard - 14/2/2024 - All day Barton Hill - 15/2/2024 - All day The Watershed - 15/2/2024 - All day Southmead Hospital - 15/2/2024 - All day David Smith Building - 16/2/2024 - All day Apart from in exceptional circumstances, all work will be carried out during typical hours of operation, between the hours of 8am to 6pm. We are working with building Facilities Managers to ensure this essential work is carried out with sensitivity to key events and activities in your buildings, although some impact is inevitable. [Identified] Third party fibre contractor has identified the affected area and will be onsite on 08/02 to confirm fault location and replace damaged fibre. No further updates will be provided today unless there is a significant change in status. Next update tomorrow (08/02) by 10:00

[Identified] Necessary permits have not been supplied by NHS Estates to allow third party fibre contractor to access the affected area on 08/02. New estimated repair time will be provided once availability of required permits has been confirmed. Staff onsite will still be able to access wireless network using NHS eduroam and use VPN to access most UoB resources.

[Identified] Third party fibre contractor currently onsite (08/02) repairing the damaged section of fibre which will be replaced with a section of armoured cable. Repair is expected to be completed today. Further update to follow later.

Interruption to incoming calls for a range of numbers on the morning of 6 February

Description

Virgin Media will no longer support a number of old telephone lines and we need to move the following numbers to a new cloud-based solution to avoid losing these numbers. The work will take place on the morning of Tuesday 6 February. While the numbers are ported, external incoming calls will not be received. Internal calls and outgoing calls are unaffected. This typically takes one hour but due to the amount of numbers this could take up to 4 hours or longer. Upgrade to MyERP from 2 February to 4 February

Description

During the upgrade of MyERP, it will be inaccessible to users from 3.30 pm on Friday, 2 February to 5.00 pm on Sunday, 4 February. The upgrade brings improvements to performance and ensures that we are able to deliver updates to our payroll processes. Both desktop and Web clients will be unavailable at this time and scheduled reports will be paused while the work is undertaken.
