[Identified] We are sorry to inform you that due to unforeseen technical issues Bluepebble will not be ready to return to service on Wednesday 14th August as planned. The return to service will be delayed by one week, i.e. not until after Tuesday 20th August. Users will be contacted this Friday to confirm the date that the BluePebble system will be returned to service Please be assured we are working as hard as we can to get the system restored. Thank you for your patience

BluePebble - Downtime schedule for Servicing 24th July

Description

The majority of BluePebble nodes will be down from 24th July until 14th August 2024. From 3pm on the 24th July - jobs running at that time will need to be stopped to allow the cluster to be brought down safely before power interruption. The downtime schedule has been brought forward due to scheduled power works in the Physics Building where the BluePebble system is hosted.

BluePebble upgrade: planned downtime Tues 2nd - Fri 5th April

Description

There will be planned downtime on BluePebble which is required to perform an essential upgrade. This will take place from Tuesday 2nd of April at 9:00 until Friday 5th of April 17:00. During this time the system will be inaccessible. Please be aware that when querying jobs you in the lead up to the downtime you may see the Reason: (ReqNodeNotAvail, Reserved for maintenance) (or something similar) This means your job is unable to run prior to the scheduled downtime. We apologise for any disruption this may cause to your research or teaching. A further downtime is needed in early May 2024 to update the operating system for BluePebble, as the current OS is end of life. Whilst every effort has been made to minimize the impact there will be a brief interruption to sessions on University hosted online services. [Investigating] We are currently experiencing a problem with the University network. This means that a range of services hosted by the University are currently unavailable. This will affect access to Eduroam, websites, Sympa (sending to mailing lists), Departmental Filestore and logging onto University managed computers. This does not affect services hosted externally such as Microsoft Office 365. We are working to identify the cause and recover services. We apologise for the disruption and hope to have services back soon.

[Investigating] We are still investigating the incident affecting the University network, we have been working to resolve the issue and make improvements to allow services to work. You may have noticed that some services are now available, but they should be considered at risk as the main problem has not been fixed. We believe we know the cause of the problem and are currently working to recover all services, but we cannot confirm when. We’ll be providing a further update at 3:30PM

Description

Please note: This work will be rescheduled for another date ---------- The work is part of activity to establish a robust and resilient data centre infrastructure, this work is scheduled to link our onsite legacy data centres with our modern off-site data centres. This requires a change to our network configuration. This work supports the transformational IMPact Programme managed by IT Services, which aims to enhance our digital services through modern cloud-based, highly available and highly resilient systems. The work will take place between 7am and 9am on Tuesday 2nd July. Every effort has been made to test that the change goes without incident, but there is always a possibility of disruption to services. Services at risk include those hosted by the University. Please note that services hosted externally, such as Outlook and One Drive, would not be affected by this work in any way, except for services which rely on UOB Single-Sign-On.
