Description

There will be an update on the software center between 8am and 10 am on the 17th January. The Software Center may be unavailable at times during this period. If you have problems please retry after a few minutes or postpone your install until after the update has completed.

Roaming profile and the Student Remote Desktop

[Investigating] We are continuing to receive reports of problems with these services. Student Remote Desktop : gives error "The user profile service failed the signin." Other users receive an error: "User profile service There was a problem with your roaming profile. You have been logged on with your previously saved local profile. Please see the event log for details or contact your administrator." We are continuing our investigations.

[Investigating] Staff experiencing issues logging in may be able to connect with a saved profile. To connect switch off the pc by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. Remove the network cable. Switch the pc back on and wait for the logon prompt. Login and when connected replace the network cable. IT Services continue to work to resolve the route cause.

[Resolved] Issues with logon profiles have now been resolved. IT Services apologises for the disruption to service.

[Investigating] Some people are getting an error when they try to open Google Chrome. This is being investigated. We advise those affected to use Internet Explorer (or other available browser).

[Monitoring] Anyone with problems using Chrome on a University managed system is advised to run the Chrome repair tool from the Software Center. Click start and type "Software Center" select the name then go to "Available Software " and you should see "Chrome - Chrome Repair". (If not press F5 to refresh). Select the repair tool and click on "install". If you need further help, or if the software is not listed, please contact the Service Desk.
