Essential work is taking place to the University network services on Saturday 28 January between 9.30am and 3.00pm During this work, there will be an interruption to a number of services from 11.00 am to 11.30 am and potential impact to services between 1.30 pm and 2.00 pm. Updates to Microsoft Teams with Voice, every Friday from 24 June until 22 July 2022

Description

Over six weeks, from 24 June until 22 July, we will be updating Microsoft Teams with Voice each Friday evening after 7pm. Only staff with Microsoft Teams with Voice will be affected. Staff will only be affected by this work on one of the dates below. Staff will be grouped alphabetically by surname to determine an exact outage date. Staff will be contacted in advance with the date of their update. - Friday 24 June - Friday 1 July - Friday 8 July - Friday 15 July - Friday 22 July The update will temporarily affect the calling function in the Microsoft Teams app. You won’t be able to make and receive phone calls during the update. We’ve been advised by Microsoft that the update will generally last a few hours but could take up to 24 hours to complete. Please note: Your ability to make video and audio calls to internal members of staff, as well as join meetings and use chat shouldn't be affected but should be considered at risk due to the nature of the work. If your role requires the use of Microsoft Teams during the weekend, please get in touch by emailing teams-enterprise-voice@bristol.ac.uk. Microsoft will be carrying out maintenance on the Skype for Business Online service from 16:00pm on Friday 2nd April until 7:00am, Saturday 3rd April. If you are actively using the Skype for Business Online service during the time of the maintenance, the impact is expected to be a brief (< 5 minutes) disconnect from the service. Users who experience a disconnect, will be able to re-join meetings, once the Skype for Business Online service connectivity resumes. Due to the nature of the issue the University has deemed this critical activity. During the work on Monday 22 March between 5.30 pm and 9.00 pm there will be a potential for interruption to a wide range of services from on and off-campus during the period of the work. We advise staff and students to make appropriate plans to have work available offline during these periods and note alternative contact routes to any services you need to access due to disruption to the phone systems. [Investigating] The OneNumber service is still unavailable and we anticipate this situation continuing into Monday. In addition to working around the clock to resolve the problem, we have taken action to move key contact centres to alternative services so numbers continue to work. However, individual staff on the OneNumber service will still not be able to receive or make calls using the service. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

[Investigating] We have identified a problem affecting staff with Skype for Business with Enterprise Voice. Skype for Business with Enterprise Voice allows staff to make and receive calls with those outside the organisation using Skype for Business. Currently, incoming calls (not made using Skype for Business) to a Skype for Business Enterprise Voice user are getting an engaged tone and unable to get through. However, Skype for Business with Enterprise Voice users can continue to make external calls. Skype for Business with Enterprise Voice is currently rolled out to staff in: - Careers Service - IT Services - Langford In addition, staff who required the ability to make external calls from home as part of their work have also been moved to this service. We are working to resolve the problem and hope to have the service back by lunchtime. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

Description

A supplier will be conducting maintenance work on our telephone network overnight on October 15, starting at 23:00 and finishing at 04:00 on 16 October. There will be a brief service interruption of up to five minutes as the services are migrated. Services are deemed at risk for the duration of the work. The brief interruption may impact voice calls made or received between an external number and staff using the OneNumber service or Skype for Business on prem service. If you have any concerns please contact the IT Service Desk, service-desk@bristo.ac.uk.
