Description

Please note: This work will be rescheduled for another date ---------- The work is part of activity to establish a robust and resilient data centre infrastructure, this work is scheduled to link our onsite legacy data centres with our modern off-site data centres. This requires a change to our network configuration. This work supports the transformational IMPact Programme managed by IT Services, which aims to enhance our digital services through modern cloud-based, highly available and highly resilient systems. The work will take place between 7am and 9am on Tuesday 2nd July. Every effort has been made to test that the change goes without incident, but there is always a possibility of disruption to services. Services at risk include those hosted by the University. Please note that services hosted externally, such as Outlook and One Drive, would not be affected by this work in any way, except for services which rely on UOB Single-Sign-On. If you have any concerns about this work please contact the IT Service Desk, service-desk@bristol.ac.uk.

Emergency maintenance work to some staff MyFiles storage

Description

Emergency maintenance is needed for parts of the MyFiles service. This follows an incident last week affecting the MyFiles service (see itstatus.bristol.ac.uk/pages/incident/5798d20cc211074a0e000edf/5cf0f92022c85812610d4839). To ensure that all the MyFiles storage is working properly we need to run some checks on parts of the MyFiles storage. This work will take place this evening, 7 June, after 6pm. Affected filestores may be unavailable for periods of up to five hours as work takes place. All staff affected will be contacted by email. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

[Identified] We have identified a problem affecting some staff and PGR student MyFiles accounts. The problem happened at just after midday on Thursday 30th May. We have received reports that staff have not been able to find content in MyFiles that they were working on at that time. In some cases, it has been possible to find an earlier version of the document in the copy of MyFiles found in staff and PGR students Microsoft OneDrive accounts. If staff cannot find documents that they were working on in MyFiles on the afternoon of 30th May, in either MyFiles or OneDrive, please contact the IT Service Desk (service-desk@bristol.ac.uk) providing the file path for the missing documents (the name of the file and folders in which it can be found) e.g. MyDocuments>Project X>May Report>Appendix>analysis.docx

[Identified] Work will take place over the weekend to fix problems affecting some MyFiles accounts. From 6pm on Friday 31st May until 8am on Monday 3rd June affected filestores may be unavailable for periods of up to five hours as work takes place to fix the service. We advise staff and PGR students to use the Microsoft OneDrive filestore over the weekend if possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Description

We are undertaking critical maintenance to our departmental filestore area on Tuesday 6th November between 7am and 8am. This will affect many folders hosted on \\ads.bris.ac.uk\filestore During this period there will a service outage of 15 minutes, during which you will be unable to connect to or save files to the filestore. After this outage, you will be able to continue working normally. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. [Monitoring] As an undergraduate or taught post graduate, all of your "MyFiles/O:" drive documents are now in your OneDrive for Business folder. You can find that on any Windows 10 PC, or get access to your files online. If you need to logon, use your username@bristol.ac.uk not username@my.bristol.ac.uk. If you have any questions or think there's anything missing from your OneDrive folder compared to your old MyFiles folders, don't panic! Just contact the IT Service Desk and we'll help you out. If you think some of your documents have not been copied, that may be as you had encrypted the files. We'll help you to copy anything that's missing We'll retain all the original documents from your drive for at least 3 months. Your "O:" drive will now appear to be empty - all your documents will go by default into OneDrive. The new O: drive is just there to provide compatibility with any older systems - you don't need to use it. It is there to let you use any older Windows 7 computers whilst we finishing rolling out Windows 10 across the University. bristol.ac.uk/it-services/applications/filestore/OneDriveMigration
